1974 BMW 2002Tii “Bristol Tii”

2002 tii US VIN 2782028 manufactured on June 20th, 1974 and delivered on June 25th, 1974 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City
~57K indicated miles when acquired Nov 2018, few docs but evidence of long-term storage, last known registration in 1982 (CA blue plate included)

Full rotisserie restoration and refinish in Bristol Grey completed 2020, including a comprehensive package of upgrades and modifications designed to increase performance, reliability and driving pleasure and create an understated, period aesthetic.

Drivetrain:

Original M10 engine rebuilt using original matching numbers block, original head and crankshaft.

Twin-Injection ITB system retains the original Tii Kugelfischer MFI, supplemented by upstream secondary EFI injection and digital engine management, providing increased power and smoother operation.

  • lightweight aluminum front hubs from Ireland Engineering
  • Tii front calipers with vented discs, rear disc conversion
  • vintage Alpina 15″ wheelset 6″ front and 7″ rear
  • Rear camber adjustable via eccentric bushing

Exterior:

  • body stripped and media blasted prior to required sheetmetal repairs
  • drivers side fender replaced with OE BMW part
  • minor rust repairs performed as required, all documented in build log
  • lower trim and US side markers shaved
  • bumpers backdated: tucked & welded 1-piece brushed stainless bumpers front & rear
  • all OE aluminum and stainless trim preserved, straightened, brushed and cleared
  • chrome window frames stripped and re-plated
  • Euro headlight assemblies
  • Italian market front turn signals with brushed housings

  • Digital engine management system with coil-per-plug, crank-fire ignition, idle control, closed loop O2 functionality, and PWM cooling fan control
  • 3-way adjustable AC system with controls integrated into factory heater control location
  • Modern mini-fuse panel with LED status indicators
  • Period Blaupunkt stereo integrated with hidden bluetooth multi-channel amplifier and
  • modern component speakers
  • Compact one-wire alternator with integrated voltage regulator
  • AEM Wide-band O2 sensor with hidden AFR gauge for tuning and diagnosis

Interior:

  • Triple-layer heat barrier/decoupling/sound deadening applied throughout cabin
  • E21 Recaro sport seats, bolsters recovered in nappa leather with houndstooth inserts,
  • original outers retained including OE roundel emblems
  • E24 Rear bucket seats and console, custom trimmed for shoulder belts
  • Modern self-tensioning belts with fine tri-color ///M stripe over black webbing
